The Embassy of Hungary in Latvia in cooperation with the National Library of Latvia and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music organized a music afternoon for kids presenting piano music of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók at the wonderful glass room on the top floor of the National Library of Latvia on 17 December 2016.
Ambassador of Hungary to Latvia H.E. Mrs. Adrien Müller in her welcoming words recalled the great pieces of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, who’s anniversary is celebrated this year all over the world. Bartók was focusing also to the music teaching of the smallest. Microcosmos was composed to facilitate the piano teaching of children. It consists of 153 progressive piano pieces from very easy and simple beginner études to very difficult advanced technical displays, and are used in modern piano lessons and education.
Microcosmos were played by students of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. The program was put together by Latvian pianist Diana Zandberga. For more festive feelings Hungarian Christmas songs were also performed. The event was organized within the framework "Family Saturday" of the National Library of Latvia.
