Travelling to the past is something exceptional. The toys from the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th century open us a unique world.

 

No doubt that the collection of the Hungarian toy collector Mrs Mariann Karlócai will enchant all generations. The Collection consists of approximately 5000 toys and most of them were made at the beginning of 20th century. At the exhibition in Riga you will find the masterpieces of this collection: toys for girls and boys, prestigious and unique pieces, handmade objects which were so valuable and important for their little owners. The best toy factories at the time are represented here with their old but still valid and functioning toys. The exhibition is put together by the Hungarian Commercial and Trade Museum, the Embassy of Hungary in Latvia and the National Library of Latvia.

 

 

At the opening of the exhibition Ambassador of Hungary to Latvia, H.E. Mrs. Adrien Müller underlined that the Hungarian collection is the first such wonderful exhibition of vintage toys in Latvia. At the same time this is the premier of the the collection outside Hungary. She has emphasised the excellent cooperation with the National Library of Latvia. It couldn’t be found better place for such toy exhibition that the Kid’s Section of the Library having so many visitors, curious eyes of the small once. The exhibition was opened at the presence of the collector Mrs. Mariann Karlócai, who has devoted her life for collecting exceptional toys alongside being a mother of 4 kids, grandmother of 18 grandchild and being active in her professional life as kindergarten teacher. Thank you Mrs. Mariann for this wonderful collection.
