On April 25, our Embassy organized a Day of Hungary at the Kalnciema Street Crafts Market in Riga, a market specializing in high-quality crafts and farm producers’ foods.

On April 25, our Embassy organized a Day of Hungary at the Kalnciema Street Crafts Market in Riga, a market specializing in high-quality crafts and farm producers’ foods. As part of the Day of Hungary, visitors to the market had an opportunity to participate in the following programme elements between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.:

 

-    Demonstration of a working Ford Model T (1921) and an exhibition on the life of József Galamb, in collaboration with the Maros-parti Veteran Vehicle Enthusiasts Sports Association of Makó and the Liszt Institute in Helsinki

-    Presentation of the exhibition titled “Visionary Hungarians”

-    Presentation of the “Hello Balaton” exhibition

-    Rubik’s Cube solving masterclass with the help of a Hungarian Rubik’s Cube champion from Riga

-    Free goulash soup tasting based on an authentic Hungarian recipe

-    Opportunity to purchase kürtőskalács, i.e. chimney-cake (in collaboration with Chimney Cake Latvia)

-    Hungary quiz for interested visitors, with small prizes

 

Some excellent Hungarian music served as the background soundtrack throughout the day. The successful event generated a lot of interest and positive feedback among market visitors.
