The exhibition “1956 - For Freedom and Independence” prepared by House of Terror Museum of Budapest was opened on the 4th of October, 2016 by the Ambassador of Hungary, Ms. Adrien Müller and by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima, Mr. Ojars Eriks Kalnins in the National Library of Latvia. 

At the exhibition, the film ”Play your own game” could be watched. It told the story of Hungary from the end of World War II until the regime change through the life story of soccer star Ferenc Puskás.

At the opening of the exhibition, Ambassador Adrien Müller and Chairman Ojars Eriks Kalnins recalled the outstanding effects of 1956 both from the Hungarian, as well as from the international point of view. The exhibition in Latvian and English was open for the public until mid-January 2017.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Memorial Committee for 1956.
